Configure Yealink T26P for use with 3CX Cloud Server (direct registration)

The following guide will walk you through the process of registering a Yealink T26P with the 3CX Cloud Server. If you are using Session Border Controller please see my other post on registering with 3CX Cloud Server and SBC.

Please note, that at the time of writing this article the Yealink T26P has it’s own supported release of firmware for use with 3CX. Firmware version 6.71.0.224 (located here). To optimise your 3CX experience it would be best to ensure that the firmware is set to 6.71.0.224 before configuring the phone for use with 3CX.

Step 1: Connect Phone to Network and Log into the Phone

Connect the Yealink T26P to the network and navigate to the IP address of the phone in a web browser. If you do not know the IP address of the phone press the Menu button on the phone and then select Status.

Once you have navigated to the IP address of the phone you will be prompted to log into the phone. If this phone is straight out of the box it will have the default username and password set by Yealink.

3CX Cloud Server Port List

Each tenant in the 3CX Cloud Server has it’s own dedicated set of ports.  If the firewall you are using is the Windows Firewall, no port forwarding action is required because all necessary ports are opened by the installation process of 3CX Cloud Server. However, if you have a firewall other than Windows Firewall, you will need to ensure the following ports are opened for each tenant on your firewall.

The following ports apply to 3CX Cloud Server v12.

Cisco 509G BLF Keys Not Working

I noticed recently that when I moved my PBX from a local install to the cloud, all of the BLF keys on my Cisco 509G were flashing orange and no longer working.

I checked quite a few settings and finally found that the reason the BLF keys weren’t working was due to the fact that Line Key 1 was not set to Extension 1.  When I changed this setting back to Extension 1 my issue immediately resolved itself.

I am connecting to a 3CX Cloud Server but I’m fairly certain you would experience the same issue no matter what type of PBX you are connecting to.

Turn Off 3cxsbc Logging via the Command Line on Raspberry Pi

If the log is enabled on your 3CX Session Border Controller you will find that the log file can fill up over time and use up too much space on your SD card.

To avoid filling up your SD card and crashing the OS, it’s best practice is to delete the contents of 3cxsbc.log file rather than delete the log file itself.

If you only have access to the command line you can delete the contents of the file as follows.

Error Updating Raspberry Pi – Temporary failure resolving ‘[hostname]’. Failed to fetch update.

When attempting to fetch updates on my Raspberry Pi with the following command:

sudo apt-get update

I received the following error:

Update and Check 3CX SBC Version on Raspberry Pi

Check 3CX SBC Version on Raspberry Pi

First login as root user to ensure you have sufficient permissions. Then from secure shell run the following command:

aptitude versions 3cxsbc

you should see something similar to this:

i = installed version and p = available version

If no available versions appear you will need to check for available updates to ensure you are on the latest version.

Configure Aastra Phones for use with 3CX Tunnel

Although Aastra phones are not supported by 3CX, it is still possible to have them register remotely with the 3CX via a tunnel. To do so you will need the Session Border Controller Software (if using 3CX v12) or SIP Proxy Manager (if using 3CX v11 or lower).  Once the tunnel between Session Border Controller or SIP Proxy Manager and the 3CX has been has been established, you will need to configure your Aastra phone to register with the 3CX via the tunnel.
